THE LOCATION Nautilus Resort & Spa is situated on popular Muri Beach right on the edge of the silvery sand. It is hard to get a better
location than this. Muri Village and the night market with its local food stalls are a short stroll away too.
THE STYLE It is hard not to be impressed by what has been achieved style-wise at this resort. Much of the design input comes from
owner Paul himself. His practised eye has gone over the smallest detail of the build and design from sinking pillars into the foundations to choosing the lights and wall
decorations. A lot of love has been poured into this resort. The result is a meticulously designed property with a real sense of individuality. The vibe is a designer version of Polynesian style, with wood floors and rattan furniture.
KID-CENTRIC Australian owners Paul and Jane Pearson have a family of their own, so they know what makes children (and parents) happy. Complimentary kayaks and snorkel gear is available and the beach is only a minute away. The gentle lagoon on the doorstep is perfect for family swimming. The resort can also organise picnics on a nearby island and other family activities.
THE ROOMS Single rooms have plenty of room for one child but the two-bedroom villas with private plunge pools are perfect for families. There is also a very special three bedroom beachfront villa with two private decks and two plunge pools. Nautilus Resort and Spa opened in 2015 and phase two, promising more guest rooms, is due to open in 2017.
EATING The food, like the architect designed resort, is without doubt the best on the island. The beachfront restaurant and chic beach bar celebrates the essence of Polynesian culture with some firm Western favourites too. My son voted the steak the best he had ever tasted. The restaurant has been praised by far more discerning critics too, with the private dining room an elegant favourite for wedding parties and other special events.
